Massage for hallux valgus is a simple manipulation technique aimed at a reflex effect on the cervical and lumbar spine (depending on the severity of the pathology), as well as on the legs and feet to treat the disease and prevent it.

Massage for Hallux Valgus is done carefully, without unnecessary physical effort, because the feet have anatomical features.It can be either general strengthening or direct in its effect directly on the deformation zone.
Preparation
Before you start the massage for hallux valgus, you need to make preliminary preparations for the manipulation, which consists of several stages.
For adults these are:
- Steam your feet in hot water infused with a blend of sage, pine needle extract, chamomile and oak bark.Medicinal components of the plant easily penetrate the heated dermis and have anti-inflammatory and tonic effects.
- Apply an emollient containing shark oil or laurel oil to the feet and big toes, which can warm and nourish the inner layer of the dermis.
For children with anatomical pathology:
- rubbing lightly with the palm, and then more intensely (with the ribs of the palm) cervical spine, lower back;
- warms the skin and muscles of the thighs, legs and feet with gentle circular movements to make them more flexible for the main massage.
After the manipulation, the massage procedure will be comfortable, painless, and more effective.
Technique
Although the general technique - stroking, rubbing, tapping, pressing, massage for foot valgus in children differs from the procedure for adults.
For children, experts advise starting with the neck and back;for adults, all manipulations are aimed at the area around the lump, which is characteristic of the pathology (but not at the growth itself), as well as at the foot.
In adults
Hallux valgus massage is performed independently as follows:
- using circular movements of varying intensity, the area around the protruding joint is worked;
- the thumb pad is heated, a small circumference of the joint to the side is added;
- Using a strong grasping and pressing motion, the joints of each finger are carefully felt and pressed.
This is followed by a no-touch sequence, you will need:
- move your toes up and down;
- make a fan - the toes diverge to the side and converge;
- grab a small ball with your toes and move it to the side;
- Place your foot on the needle roller and roll it with light pressure.
This exercise, thanks to increased blood flow, relieves inflammation and pain from deformed joints and helps strengthen muscles.
In children

Massage for children with foot curvature is performed very carefully and only in a lying position to avoid additional pressure on the musculoskeletal system:
- The child is placed on his stomach so that the legs are under the work surface and the spine is moved with up and down movements, followed by grabbing the sides towards the armpits.
- They go down to the sacrum and buttocks, stroking in a circular motion, and also transversely to work on this zone.
- Using a stroking motion from the knee, the back surface of the thigh is massaged, after which this area is carefully kneaded with more intense movements.
- Flat valgus feet and heels are rubbed intensively in all directions, after which the skin is gently shaken in the foot area, without pinching.
- Each finger is intensively massaged in turn with light stretching along the entire length.
- Using circular movements from the toes to the heel, drawing a figure eight, work the legs.
- The child is turned over on his back, a bolster is placed under his knee and the exercise is repeated on the front surface of the leg.
Massage for hallux valgus in children, when, in addition to flat feet, the heel rolls inward or deviates outward, is effective with timely and regular treatment.
Contraindications
Massage for plano-valgus deformity has the following contraindications:
- any lower leg disease during the exacerbation period;
- general physical fatigue associated with systemic disease;
- malignant neoplasm;
- cardiovascular system problems;
- varicose veins.
Also, people with unstable blood pressure and weak blood vessels should use the massage with caution.
Self-massage for hallux valgus can only be done if the disease is not severe or complicated.
In other cases, this simple and affordable massage technique will help relieve discomfort, restore muscle tone, normalize blood flow and, as part of a comprehensive treatment, get rid of the problem.
